Month to Month contracts explained

Month to month contracts explained. (MTM)

Summary:  You will pay more upfront for a month to month agreement because the alarm company cannot subsidize any of your installation or equipment if they are not guaranteed a monthly payment for a specific amount of months.

Example 1 – Installation of a new system with a Panel with Keypad and cellular unit, 2 Door Contacts and one motion. (Qolsys System with power g sensors)

A.      Price when signing a 36 month agreement  $149 installed and $46.00 per month

B.      Price when signing a 24 month agreement   $399 installed and $46 per month

C.      Price when signing a 12 month agreement  $715 installed and $46 per month

D.      Price when signing a Month to Month agreement $1,230  installed and $46 per month

Example 2 – Takeover of an existing system upgrading the panel and adding a LTE 4G cellular. *

A.      Price when signing a 36 month agreement $49 installed and $46 per month

B.      Price when signing a 24 month agreement $250 installed and $46 per month

C.      Price when signing a 12 month agreement $565 installed and $46 per month

D.      Price when signing a month to month agreement $980 installed and $46 per month

Additional notes:

1.       In Salt Lake City and West Valley and some other local cities we add $10 per month for Alarm Response because the Police will not respond and so we send out our Guard/Patrol units out in marked cars. We do have other services that could be added which could affect the price.

2.       If you want to pay a higher monthly fee the installation cost can normally be decreased.

3.       If you lease a shop on a 24 month lease and do not want to sign a 36 month agreement we can arrange the 24 month agreement although you need to let the salesperson know upfront.

4.       *Example 2 above is just that an example, understand that all brands are different and have different costs. Honeywell, Bosch, DSC all have a bit different costs and features. This example is for a Honeywell Vista panel and you would be keeping the existing keypads and other equipment.

5.       Some panels can allow you to arm and disarm remotely and others cannot so if you need this feature be sure to inform the salesperson because they may have to do an upgrade.

6.       GE Interlogix panels like the CONCORD 4, SIMON, NX panels and others were good equipment although Interlogix went out of business in 2019 and we were able to get parts for most of 2020 but now they are no longer available although you can still find parts on Ebay although Peak Alarm will not buy from Ebay because there is no warranty so if you have an Interlogix system consider changing it out for a DMP or Honeywell panel. If your system is not really large you could change it out for a Qolsys System and keep the same wireless devices.

7.       These are examples only, please ask your salesperson for a quote based off your exact equipment and circumstances.

8.        Qolsys systems can be encrypted and can have 900mhz wireless which gives you greater range.

9.       If you go with an unlicensed company or a company that does not have their own central station and guard company they will third party out those services and you will be dealing with 2 or 3 companies instead of one and if you go with a company y that uses equipment that is not encrypted and that has a lower frequency and not as much range your costs will be lower but so will your risk.

10.   Check the Better Business Bureau www.bbb.org on every company you are going to get bids from.

11.   Alarm Companies are not insurance companies so if you have high dollar items at your home or business be sure to get additional insurance from your insurance company for those specific things because having a system does not guarantee that you won’t have break ins, floods or have your pipes freeze although a security / fire system can alert you to issues such as low temperature before the pipes freeze and alert you to flood or fire conditions as well as someone breaking in.
