If you want to get 15-16 days of storage on your system with High Resolution settings and 10-15 IPS (Images per second) or FPS (Frames per second) with a 2MP camera we recommend that you have 1TB of storage for each camera. When you set the system to record on motion you will get more days although depending on your situation and how much detail you need you will want to plan on the higher side of storage. Purchasing a 2TB recorder and having 16 cameras will not be enough storage to accomplish what you need. The price of storage has been coming down so purchase more storage than you think you need.

NOTES:

Recording on motion only will allow you to increase the days of storage depending on the motion activity. Motion 50% of the day is shown in last column

Analog cameras are normally 320 TVL to 700TVL and Mega Pixel High Definition cameras are normally 3 to 5 times the resolution or more

Mega Pixel cameras record more detail hence they take up more storage on your NVR recording equipment

NTSC Setting used. Keep in mind that storage calculations are based off of several factors and changing any one setting can affect it.

This chart is conservative so the kbps on the 2MP cameras will be closer to 3200 kbps and when there is a scene with lots of activity it can go up.

Normally the human eye cannot tell the difference between 15 images per second and 30 images per second.

You can get more storage when you set the frame rate to a lower setting but if it gets too low video may appear choppy. 10-15 is a common setting
