Costs over time We can see from the chart that is linked to this blog that since 1950 we have to work over double the hours just to pay rent so we are with our families less because we normally have to get two jobs.

We can see that in 1950 you had to work 22 minutes to buy a gallon of gas and now you have to work 35 min to buy a gallon of gas.
