Obamacare signup far from fixed
Frustrated but I still feel blessed for many reasons.
Latest on the healthcare.gov saga: In Nov 2013 I applied and CHAT told me to call in and the phone center representatives (3) said someone would call me back because they could not help me. Several hours working on the application and on the site. At first it could not authenticate my identity and then finally I got that done and on to new issues that would not let me process the application. Current status of application : In Process (after 4 months)
You see, the application asks if you are a citizen and I put that my wife was not and it then asks for the A# which I entered only to be told that it was an invalid A# so as an alternate I entered the I-94 number and it came back and said that was invalid as well even though we paid several thousand dollars for those numbers to be valid, so here it is Feb 2014 and I have not gotten any calls back from supervisors as they said.
I called today and CHAT could not help and I called the 1 800 318 2596 number and they asked for my social which I normally don't give out on the phone and they could not access the application with my name and address nor with my application number so I gave them the social.
The rep then told me it would be best if I deleted my old application and filled out another one. After several hours of entering all that information why should I have to delete it and start over? So once again they could not help nor offer any solutions other than to start an automated process again that is supposed to be fixed now but is not. I spoke with a person that helps people here in Utah to fill out the application and he said:
No don't put the A# in because the system is not integrated nor is it able to recognize those numbers yet. I asked how I would get past the part where it asks if my wife is a US Citizen and he said just say YES and then fix it later. NOT "WRONG ANSWER" I am not going to be dishonest to try to get our government's flawed web site to take my application. Why does the Gov ask for an A # that it cannot recognize? Being in the Army for over 7 years I should have learned not to ask reasonable questions. So that is an update of my situation with ObamaCare.
Oh, as a WARNING to those people that are undocumented, be careful because there are people out there telling you that you can qualify for Obamacare for a low monthly payment made to them. This is wrong, you have to be legally present in the US to apply and to receive healthcare insurance. I printed off the information and I also spoke with them on the phone today because a guy is trying to scam a family in my branch to pay him $33 per month for insurance that they cannot legally apply for.
