My wife's new scooter MC D150F

Last week my wife's new scooter came, the shipper took it off the truck in about 2 minutes and I asked him if he could take the pallet and he said he could not cut the straps so I did and he was impressed with how the scooter looked. He said he had delivered lots of them and had not seen one yet.

The only things I had to do were to put the trunk on, put the mirrors on and drain the oil and put new oil in. The trunk later vibrated off so make sure you tighten it on good. The trunk that comes with the scooter is not really made for this scooter so secure it well and check it to make sure the nuts are not coming loose.

So far we have driven it just over 100 miles and it has good power. This unit is a 150cc and they say it goes 58 mph but so far with me on it I only got it up to about 52 and I weigh 200 lbs so with my wife on the scooter she might be able to get it up to 58. It's plenty fast for running around town and I would suggest that you get the 150 and not the 50 cc so you will have some power to pull out in traffic quickly if you need to.

We looked around Salt Lake City and the least expensive scooters we saw were just over 2000 each and the better 150 cc units were over 3000 so we thought we would chance one of these Chinese scooters.

SAVE ON GAS

If you don't mind your hair getting messed up and you don't need to haul things and people around then driving the scooter to work can save you quite a bit in gas. The other draw back in here in Salt Lake you can only ride the scooter to work 6 or 7 months during the year and some of those days it might be raining.

My truck gets 16 mpg since it is a 4WD and work is 10 miles away so that is 20 miles per day twenty days a month or 140 days and 2800 miles which would be 175 gallons of gas in the truck or over $665 dollars in gas compared to 37 gallons of gas in the scooter or 140 dollars in gas so you would save about $525 in gas. I checked it and it takes the same time to get to work as in my truck.

So after the scooter is 6 months old you will have changed the oil 3 to 4 times since your supposed to change it at 300 miles and then every 1000 after that and changing the oil 4 times is the same cost as changing the truck oil once so that would be a wash so with a 6 month old scooter that you paid 1057 for you really will have paid only $532 or if you considered it rented then it would have cost you $4 a day to rent it.

You really need to watch because cars cut you off and most accidents with motorcycles happen under 30 mph so you really should wear your helmets always. I have found that I don't listen to my IPOD because I want to pay more attention to the road. Shopping is a bit harder although there is a large storage space under the seat and the trunk but the helmets don't fit in either area.

So would I buy another one? Yes I would. Draw backs? Well parts take about 5 to 8 weeks to get. I was going to order a new trunk and they said it would be 5 weeks or so. The trunk is $90 and right now they only have them in blue. So parts may be hard to get hold of but with the price being just over $1000 if the scooter breaks down you could actually buy a new one. We ordered the scooter and it only took about 2 weeks to get here.

I assumed that the bolts would be tight and you know what you do when you assume? ASS / U / ME so the muffler started wiggling and making noise and I found one bolt missing and one loose so I tightened the one and put another one on. I would suggest you tighten the bolts when the motorcycle comes. Even with this experience I still rate this scooter very high since it runs really well. I think the speedometer is a bit off, I will check it but that's not that big of a deal.

So far the review is a good one because the scooter runs fine, has plenty of power and I have had good luck with everything but the trunk and that was part my fault for not securing it as it should have been.
