What protection do I have in my home?

What do you suggest as the expert?

Often people will ask what I personally recommend for protection devices on a security system.

Peak Alarm installed a Qolsys system for me and I love it. I also recommend DMP which can have security, access control and fire alarm all on one powerful platform. Both of these brands will tie into Control 4 AV systems.

At my house I have a simple alarm system that I can arm and disarm remotely and I have the following protection:

  1. Monitored Smoke Detectors - Most homes have smoke alarms that are not monitored.

  2. I have monitored CO Carbon Monoxide sensors

  3. I have 6 water sensors in my home tied to my Water Shut off valve so if there is a leak the house water gets shut off and I get notified.

  4. I have security door status switches on the doors

  5. I have motion detectors

  6. I have indoor and outdoor cameras that alert me for example if a person enters my back yard but the cameras don’t alert me if an animal is in the yard.

  7. I have a Video Doorbell from Alarm.com with analytics

  8. We have a panic button that my wife can wear when I am out of town.

  9. When we go downstairs the motion sees us and turns the lights on for 10 minutes and they shut off unless we are still downstairs.

Other items that you can add would be Locks, garage door control, Z wave switches that could turn anything on and off, gun movement switches, stove switches, outdoor gate switches and more.
