Preparing for a fire alarm inspection

THIS IS FOR YOU.

  1. The Fire Marshal AHJ will require a RED lockout switch on the breaker for the fire alarm circuit.

  2. The Circuit needs to be clearly labeled fire alarm circuit.

  3. The Fire Alarm panel needs it’s own 20amp 120 Volt circuit with nothing else on it.

  4. The Panel batteries and power supply batteries need to charge for 48 hours before the fire alarm test.

  5. Shut off your AC power circuit to the fire alarm power 24 hours before the fire marshal test.

  6. The central station will get the AC power loss signal and you will need the password to put your account in test.

  7. When the fire marshal tests the system the bells, horns, horn strobes, strobes or speaker strobes will need to be sounding and or flashing for 5 minutes or 15 minutes for certain types of buildings and voice evacuation to pass the test. If they stop before the end of the test you will fail the fire alarm test and you will need additional power supplies or larger batteries. .
