Fire watch
When you are doing work on your fire alarm system and all or part of the system will be down you will be required to have FIRE WATCH.
To meet your insurance requirements and code requirements fire watch needs to be 24 hours and you need to have a sign in and out log that shows everyone with their log in and log out time that was on fire watch.
Like the name it means that a person will be watching for fire. Understand that the person that is on a fire watch shift cannot have any other duties while performing fire watch. This means that the front desk person at a hotel cannot be on fire watch or the security guard cannot perform fire watch.
If you do not have fire watch and the log of said fire watch and an incident occurs and there is a fire and since your fire alarm is not working understand that often insurance companies will use this as a reason not to pay the claims so it is prudent to make sure you have fire watch set up and organized for your building when part or all of the fire alarm system is not functional.

Here at Utah Johnson Controls Fire Protection we can perform your fire extinguisher testing as required by code and state law and we can also perform your fire alarm testing and inspections as required by Utah State law which is once a year by tagging the fire alarm panel. We can also test your fire sprinkler systems including the PIV Post Indicator valve that is outside the building if you have one that shuts off the fire sprinkler water to the building, the fire sprinkler riser including the flows, tampers, backflows, pressure valves for both wet and dry systems as well as antifreeze systems.
The Johnson Controls Fire Protection office in Utah is a company that can test all of these systems whereas many companies will not provide testing for all types we will.
