Access Keyless entry explained

Short explanation of ACCESS CONTROL also known as KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS.

Delete cards remotely when someone is let go /remotely lock/unlock and see tracking reports when people accessed the doors.

1. Normally there is a Proximity reader, fingerprint, eye scanner or palm scanner installed on the outside of the secure door. Most systems have the proximity reader that reads a card or keytag like a keyfob that goes on your keyring.

2. Either a electronic strike or maglock is installed on the door. If a strike that allows free egress is installed then normally that does does not require auto release upon fire alarm.

3. When a maglock is installed then code requires that a request to exit motion be installed as well as a request to exit button although not all companies install both but in areas where the fire marshals check these items both are required along with a tie in to release upon fire alarm.

4. A door status switch is optional which will inform you if someone has propped the door open.

5. The Door Controller and Power Supply can be at the door or back at the headend. Some systems are wireless and others are hardwired.

6. Some of the systems are set up so when you read your card at the door it unlocks the door and disarms the security system. Here at Peak Alarm we discourage doing it this way because that extra step can help secure your building if someone finds a lost card on the sidewalk they can disarm the system and enter the building.

7. Having a IP camera system that is recording also will help you reference these types of intruders and get video for the police. Cameras also help with liability when accidents occur.

8. There are access control systems that are stand alone and others that tie to the network so you can control the system remotely using your phone. This can also be used to have a global lockdown when there are incidents like active shooter or other emergencies.

9. When you fire someone often it is hard to get the keys back and so you end up changing all the locks and the keys. With an access control system you just delete the user from your app on your phone and they no longer have access. The system also keeps track when they entered the building and you can limit which doors people have access to and on what days or times.
