Proper Motion detector placement

Items to consider when installing security motion detectors:

  1. Pick a wall that is as close to vibration free as possible and mount the motions according to the heights listed on the installation instructions for the best functionality.

  2. Mount motions where the sun will not affect them.

  3. Mount motions away from heaters, fans, electrical panels and air vent sources.

  4. Keep motions clean from spiderwebs and dust.

  5. Do not aim motions at glass or in areas that change temperature drastically.

  6. If furniture is positioned or placed after the motion detectors are installed check the placement to see that they will not be blocked.

  7. It is best not to mount motions behind door entryways. Pick areas where you will catch someone moving through the areas.

  8. When possible mount motions in areas where intruders will cross the detection zones and you can also design motions to cross other motion detectors detection zones.

  9. Tritech motion detectors can help reduce false alarms through new technology advances.
